Meet Ireland's most interesting ' characters ' who are experts in Stone Masonry & Music and believe it or not they are interconnected through their passion for their craft!
Our itinerary for the day includes the attendees will be divided into two groups.
Group 1 will assemble at 'The Stone Mastery Academy' in www.wesellstone.com @ 10.00 hours and can attend courses on Drystone Walling, Stone Carving, Advice on Hard Landscaping, How to build a stone entrance, How to build a stone arch etc by our Master Tutors /
Characters named below:
Tom Pollard: Dry Stone Walling ( practical ).
Phillip Quinn: Stone Sculptures ( practical ).
Bullie: How To Build a Stone Entrance ( ". ).
Mick McCarthy: Stone Carving & Lime Mortar.
Seamus Feehan: How to Build a Stone Arch.
There will be questions & answers around Coffee & Home made scones etc @ 11.15am and Lunch @ 1pm - 2pm
After Lunch , 2pm to 6pm
Group 1 shall travel to Leap Castle for the evening to meet our Musical Characters / Tutors where along with the opportunity to learn an instrument or the words of a song or story you can view the fine restoration of Irelands most haunted Castle and hear first hand how to revive an old building and bring it back to life.
Our Characters / Tutors
Sean Ryan: Leap Castle Owner / Restorer ,Musician, Story teller, host & Gentleman.
Jim Of The Mills, Tipperarys most famous publican , story teller , fine singer & great friend of the rich & poor!
Colm Murphy, Musician, artist, heir to the famous writing of 'Stone Mad' by his father.
Paddy & Michael Buckley: the legendary father & son duo who are sweeping Offaly by storm with their good humour, gravely voices and upbeat characters, they'll turn November into your best month yet this year!
The Kinsella Family: They chisel stone all day up in the Slieve Bloom Mountains and live the good life playing music at night time in the local bars with their neighbours & friends.
The above tutors will tell their story, their involvement in restoring cottages, Castles & Pubs. The skills required to build and restore are one thing , however they have all mastered the social skills of making these buildings come back to life and become places of welcome to visitors from all over the world. Come and learn their secrets!
Please note Group 2 will assemble in Leap Castle @ 10am until 1pm with lunch there until 2pm. Then will travel to Roscrea to the 'Stone Mastery Academy ' and learn the skills mentioned earlier with our fabulous tutors until 6pm.
All the visitors from both groups will meet up in Kinnitty for dinner @ 8pm with words of wisdom from all our Master Tutors / Characters to remember from your day in The Slieve Bloom Bar, followed by the mother and father of all sessions late into the night! Amen.
