During the early noughties, there were mainly imitation stone products such as Fernhill Stone. These are man-made products and lets just say don’t improve with time!
The Wicklow Granite Light Weight Building Stone (Standard) (N55) is authentic granite and has the advantage of being a light weight solution which is particularly useful on; 1. Houses that are already built, where the homeowner would like a natural stone finish, without excessive cost.
2. Structural Engineers and Architects involved in designing shopping centres, hotels, and apartment blocks etc love this product because of its light weight. It does not need the same expensive steel structures etc to support the weight of traditional stone cladding.
3. As a rule of thumb stonemasons can install approximately twice the coverage of Wicklow Granite Light Weight Building Stone (Standard) (N55) as opposed to standard building stone – hence half the labour cost!
4. Traditional building stone is built with a lime mortar. Wicklow Granite Light Weight Building Stone (Standard) (N55) is applied to the building the very same way as tiles. We recommend as an adhesive; Ardex Adhesive X7G. Note: Only hire experienced tradesmen to apply the Wicklow Granite Light Weight Building Stone (Standard) (N55) .
