What is Random Rubble? Random Rubble is the traditional or Early Celtic art of building with stone. It uses stones that are not squared, but are of irregular sizes and bedded on mortar or other suitable bedding material. It takes time and practise to “do” Random Rubble in the traditional method. Before you attempt to start and build Random Rubble, have a good look around at the old stone walls, such as those found on old farm houses, country churches and boundary walls. These will give you a general idea of the style and type of stone used. Roscrea Sandstone Random Rubble Building Stone GS is widely used in Ireland, The U.K and Europe. The French have a particular fondness for Random Rubble, particularly in areas such as Brittany, where the local brown stone is very similar to our Tipperary, Wicklow and Roscrea Sandstone Building Stone. How do you sum up an inimitable sense of style? And is French style, after all, so inimitable? The Japanese phrase “wabi sabi” or “perfect imperfection” seems to capture the essence of the French approach to creating a home. The chemistry that happens when a look is pulled together with a certain nonchalance, underscored by enormous confidence. The idea that things, houses or people should aspire to perfection is rendered redundant by the wisdom imparted in that one phrase – WABI SABI We recommend that the Random Rubble Building Stone is used to give the wall your own personal signature; however it is advisable to combine it with Extra Large stones – Roscrea Sandstone Building Stone Extra Large for a quoin affect and Roscrea Sandstone Building Stone Levellers to be used as risers etc. Sandstone Building Stone is suitable for all weather conditions; Sandstone Building Stone’s samples have been sent to the lab, and have received a Laboratory Test Report.
