The Standard Ridan commercial food waste composter.
This is the ideal size for a manual on-site, thermo-composter and our universal solution which will happily compost up to 200 litres of food waste per week. It is simple to use and a very well proven design.
Dimensions are as follows 2.4 meters long, 1.1 meters wide and 1.6 meters tall, weight about 60kg empty.
Performance, 200 litres of food waste per week can be recycled, more if the waste is predominantly fruit and veg waste, or if the food waste is macerated before loading.
Food waste must be mixed with either wood chip, wood pellets or a similar carbon source.
We recommend that the compost produced is stored before use for a period of 2 to 3 months in a Ridan 900 Maturation Bin before use as a growing medium.
It works like this - The lid (white part) is removed so that food waste can be loaded, the same volume of woodchip, sawdust or wood shavings must then be added. Then turn the handle for about ten turns, this mixes the contents and allows air to penetrate the mixture creating the perfect conditions for composting microbes to respire. As the microbes work they create heat which the insulated body of the Ridan retains, creating a humid hot climate within, perfect composting conditions meaning that the composting process takes as little as 14 days. The mixture travels through the Ridan when the handle is turned, eventually emerging from the open outlet. The whole process takes 5 minutes per day.
