2. Fitting instruction for Light Weight Building Stone

Description:

Light Weight Building Stone is a versatile product that can be used both externally and internally. For internal applications, it is critical that the surface onto which it is being applied has the strength and stability to hold the product.

With a weight in excess of 65kg per m², Light Weight Building Stone cannot be placed directly onto gypsum based products, plasterboard, plywood etc. In these instances it is necessary to fix a cement based board onto the wall and to clad the stone onto the board.

Fitting instructions for block walls

Adhesive should be generously applied to both the panels and the surface they are being fixed to (approximately 5mm depth on each).

The panels should then be installed from the lowest row and fitted together along the length of the wall, by simply fitting into place using a rubber mallet. Before moving to the second row, it is important to check that the joints between the pieces are alternated to ensure they are not visible.

It there is a corner in the design, then that should be the starting point. It is vital to use a long cornered piece on the bottom row and then alternate between courses with short corner pieces as you move up the wall.

For heights above three metres, the use of a simple mechanical fixing system is recommended as outlined in the diagram below. As there is no grouting or finishing required and no additional maintenance, your natural stone wall can be ready in a fraction of the time it would take to build by traditional methods.
